Marian Cawley (Knowles)

Marian Cawley, 93, of Trevose, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Gerald J. Cawley.

Born September 24, 1928 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Marian (Lindsey) Knowles.

Marian was a great woman who raised 7 fabulous children and made it her goal to do everything she could for them even when times were not so easy for her. She was hard working woman who worked in the cash receipts office for Gaudios for many years. Marian loved to dance all the time and at weddings and parties her and her husband Jerry were the highlight of the dance floor.

In spring and summer, you would find Marian in her garden where her flowers and landscaping were her greatest pride. She and Jerry worked side by side in and out of the house to make it a warm and beautiful place for her children and grandchildren to come.

Marian attended her children’s event and continued for her grandchildren. She was always off to something whether it be hockey, dance recitals, baseball, or soccer games, or plays, her presence was always visible as she supported them.

Marian’s Catholic faith was so important to her. She had a deep devotion to the Divine Mercy, her novenas and visiting EWTN on her trips to the South.

Marian was a beautiful woman who seemed ageless to all who knew her. Until the end of her life, family was all that was important to her and she let all of them know in her own words

“I love you all” ….

Along with her husband, Gerald, Marian is survived by six children, Dawn Hillig (William) of Blackwood, NJ, Thomas McGuigan (Evelina) of Feasterville, Marianne Simone (Richard) of Kunkletown, Patricia Courts of Lansdale, Theresa McGuigan of Philadelphia, and Charles McGuigan of Feasterville; 15 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

Marian was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Coates; son-in-law, Donald Coates; and two sisters, Joan Kelly and Carol McGovern.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 9:30 to 10:15 am Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, with the funeral mass to follow at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.

Contributions in Marian’s name can be made to EWTN (The Eternal Word Television Network), 5817 Old Leeds Rd, Irondale, Al 35210.
