Joseph F. Surina

Joseph F. Surina Jr of Warminster, PA and formerly of Surfside Beach, SC and Philadelphia, PA died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. He was 74.

He was the beloved husband of over 52 years to Janet M. (nee Fredenburg) Surina.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Surina.

Joseph was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. Joseph served the citizens of Philadelphia for 28 years as a Philadelphia Police Officer. He was also a former commander of American Legion Continental Post 263. Upon his retirement, he relocated with his wife to Surfside Beach, SC where they had many fond memories of warm weather and going to the beach. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, whom he cherished very much.

Joseph will be greatly missed but eternally remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and PopPop.

In addition to his wife Janet, Joseph is survived by his loving and devoted sons; Joseph and his wife Susan and their children Christopher, Taylor and Braeden of Warrington, PA and Michael and his wife Julie and their children Michael and Lorraine of Batavia, IL.  He is also survived by his sister Diana and her husband Gene Guglielmi.

Joseph’s family will receive friends on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 10:30 am until his Funeral Mass 11:30AM in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 605 West Street Road Warminster, PA 18974.  His interment with Military Funeral Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Delaware Valley Veterans Home or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
