George J. Festa

George Joseph Festa passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. He was 75.

Born February 27, 1946, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Samuel J. and Catherine Ansert Festa, and the beloved husband of the late Janice Arlene Wellings Festa, to whom he was married 34 years until her passing in 2020.

George served with distinction in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, bravely surviving a harrowing Prisoner of War experience. He continued to fight valiantly for his community’s safety as Fire Chief for the Northampton Township Volunteer Fire Company - Station 3, in Richboro, in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

In his free time, he was a fan of John Wayne, Star Trek, and especially Disney, collecting cufflinks, watches, and even an extravagant Mickey Mouse Tiffany lamp. He also enjoyed camping, and – after Janice’s passing – birdwatching. Most of all, he loved his family, who will miss him dearly.

George is survived by: son James Stein, and his wife Virginia, of Douglassville, PA; daughter Carrie Stein of Churchville; 7 beloved grandchildren and 4 adored great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in passing by brother Kenneth Festa.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet George’s family Monday, December 6, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, followed by a celebration of his life at 3:00 PM, at Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd (at Holland Rd), Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.
