Kathy Rook (Shaw)

Kathy R. Rook of Ivyland, died peacefully on November 6, 2021 at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia surrounded by her loving family. She was 70.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved wife of 51 years to William R. “Bill” Rook, dearest daughter of the late William R. and Gloria D. Spoonhoward Shaw, sister of the late Barbara Severs.

Kathy was a resident of Bucks County almost her entire life, living in Richboro until she got married in 1970 and for the past 51 years on the Rook Farm in Ivyland.

Kathy was a graduate of Council Rock High School, class of 1968.

She was a member of Addisville Reformed Church for the past 65 years and was involved in the Church Bazaar and Vacation Bible School.

As many know “behind every good man, is a good woman who loves you dearly” to say that Kathy was a farmer’s wife is an understatement. She was by Bill’s side from early morning till late at night, from picking sweet corn, to driving the escort vehicle when moving heavy farm equipment, from field to field and she even brought homemade meals so they could eat together.

She was a devoted wife, mother, Grady/Grammy, and dear friend to many.  She was everything all wrapped in one, especially to her 3 girls, who loved her more than anything.

Her home was warm and welcoming especially to her 4 loving grandsons. She made everyone who came through the door feel like family. Attending her grandson's sports, school, and church events were an important priority to her.

Kathy liked to read, crochet, and cross stitch in her spare time. She also liked to travel with Bill and family on cruises and other destinations. Years ago, Kathy and Bill would head north to snowmobile with some adventurous friends.

Kathy will be remembered for her gracious smile, warm and welcoming ways and sending cards with caring messages.  Kathy had a strong faith and relationship with her Lord and Savior which was the foundation of her life.  It brought her joy to see this instilled into her girls and their families.

In addition to her beloved husband Bill, Kathy is survived by her loving daughters: Kimberly “Kim” Capaldi and her husband Rich, Sheri Olmor and her husband Brian and Tammy Carbone and her husband Kevin. She was the loving Grady/Grammy to Kyle, Dylan, Connor, and Owen. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Les Severs.

Kathy’s family will receive condolences on Thursday, November 11th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro and on Friday morning at Addisville Reformed Church 945 Second Street Pike Richboro from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Richboro.
