Mary Jane Harris (Parr)

Mary Jane Parr Harris passed away peacefully on October 14, 2021.

MJ, as she was affectionately known, was born in Penns Manor, Fallsington, PA and graduated from Fallsington High School. She was employed by Kaiser Company and Warner Concrete, both of Bristol, PA. MJ married her high school sweetheart, Brooks N. Harris in 1948, and lived in Morrisville, PA for 10 years before moving to Edgely, PA in 1958, when their only daughter, Karla was born. The family moved to Yardley, PA in 1963, and lived there for 38 years. After her daughter got married, MJ began working at Pennswood Retirement Community in Newtown, PA as the Transportation Director, planning outings and trips for the residents. She loved her job, and made many wonderful friends in her position.

MJ’s biggest pride and joy were her two granddaughters, Kate and Krista, who affectionately called her “Schnookie”. Her biggest pleasure came from spending time with “her girls” and never missed one of their soccer games, ballet performances or marching unit events, always showing her love and support of her girls at every activity.

MJ moved from Yardley, PA to Attleboro Village in 2002, and in 2003 lost Brooks to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease. Even without Brooks by her side, MJ continued to enjoy all activities at Attleboro, especially playing Bingo, Mahjong, and participating in the Drama Club, appearing in several shows with the club, showcasing her great sense of humor. MJ’s favorite times were spent with her family, never missing a birthday, holiday, wedding or birth celebration, or even just an opportunity for the family to get together for pizza.

In 2018, MJ was blessed by the addition of a beautiful baby great- granddaughter, Emerson (Emmy) Claire, who helped to keep MJ busy, dancing and laughing. MJ was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved, and who loved her. There will be a huge void in all of our lives without her.

MJ was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Brooks; three sisters, Margaret Parr Trophe of Bristol, PA, Dorothy Parr Manship of Hiawassee, GA, and Joan Parr Hanna of Manakin Sabat, VA.

She is survived by her daughter, Karla Kotnarowski and her husband David of Levittown, PA; two granddaughters, Katelyn (Kate) E. Semkowycz and her husband, Adam of Groveville, NJ, and Krista M. Taylor of Florence, NJ; her great-granddaughter Emerson Claire Semkowycz of Groveville, NJ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 10:00 am until the celebration of life service at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 N. Pennsylvania Avenue Morrisville, PA. 19067. Interment will be held privately.
