Kathleen M. Striegel (Guilfoyle)
Kathleen M. Guilfoyle Striegel, of Philadelphia, died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville. She was 91.
She was the widow of the late Charles H. Striegel, who passed in 2017.
Born in Roxborough, Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Bird Guilfoyle.
Kay met the love of her life, Charlie when they worked together at Keasby & Madison Company in Philadelphia. They were married on April 11, 1953 and over the next sixty-four years shared a lifetime of happiness and joy creating their family. Her house was always grand central station; there was always room for one more at the dinner table. She enjoyed reading, baking, crocheting, ceramics and sewing. There isn’t a couch or bed without a quilt or afghan from Mom/MomMom/Gigi. She enjoyed sharing these talents with others but most of all spending time with her grands and great grands. There was always cake, cookies, grilled cheese and ice tea in sippy cups. She was also an avid Phillies fan through thick and thin, calling them the “stupids” when they weren’t playing well. Her favorite players were Garry Maddox and Jimmy Rollins.
She taught us all what it was to be kind and loving; we are such a huggy family because of her and no family gathering ends without the usual forty minutes of hugging and kissing good-bye!
She is survived by her five children: Kathleen M. Popp, and her husband Tom, Theresa P. Truitt, and her husband Gary, Patricia E. Manis, Carol E. Clement, and her husband Terry, and Jeannette A. Schmid, and her husband George; and her sisters MaryJane McCarthy and Theresa Galante. She is also survived by her 11 beloved grandchildren; and 8 adored great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 9:00AM until her funeral service at 10:00AM, at St. Dominic’s Church, 8504 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Her interment will follow at St. Dominic’s Cemetery.
