Maryann Sola (Donnelly)

Maryann Sola (nee Donnelly), age 83, died Monday, September 13, 2021, at her home in Upper Southampton, PA.  Born September 12, 1938, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary F. Kelly Donnelly, and the wife of Robert B. Sola, Sr., to whom she was married 52 years.

Maryann graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School and enjoyed a successful career at Philadelphia Electric Company until she started her family.  Later, she went back to work at PSFS and St. Joseph’s Preparatory School.

Maryann valued personal relationships and made friends wherever she went.  She was particularly proud of the many childhood friendships she maintained for over 75 years.  One group was from Saint Martin of Tours grade school and the other from the Oxford Circle street she grew up on – the latter group called themselves “The Rosalie Street Girls”.  She also had lifelong friends from Little Flower High School and made new friends in her Mahjong group into her 70’s.

She was known by all for her generosity, thoughtful compliments, and caring nature.  If there was a relative or a friend in need – Maryann would always provide support behind the scenes.  Her contagious laugh is fondly remembered by all who knew her – and was best experienced when she and her sister Eileen were laughing together at the holiday dinner table.  She was very proud of her Irish heritage and found comfort in her Catholic faith.  She was thrilled to become a grandmother and was beloved by her grandchildren.

Maryann is survived by: son Robert B. Sola, Jr., and his wife Maureen, of Wayne; daughter Nancy E. Jachimski, and her husband Michael, of Richboro; five beloved grandchildren: Lily, Claire, Luke, Ben & Rose; sister Eileen M. Zaleski, and her husband Jerome, of Philadelphia; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 10:30 AM until Words of Remembrance at 11:45 AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Avenue, Southampton, PA.  Her interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or Little Flower Catholic High School at 1000 W. Lycoming Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140 would be appreciated.
