Philip A. Waldron

Philip A. Waldron died peacefully on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Doylestown Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old.

Phil was the beloved husband of Joanne Atkinson Waldron. The couple shared 62 years of laughter, family, love, and marriage.

Born in Upper Darby, PA, Phil was the only son of Philip D. and Edna Purnell Waldron. He is the brother of the late Edna Huber. Phil graduated from Upper Darby High School and attended Bloomsburg University. He served in the Unites States Army as a chaplain’s assistant in Nuremberg, Germany before the start of his first career in banking. Phil worked at First Pennsylvania Bank, Doylestown National, and Continental Bank. He then became owner of the Touch of Class Jewelers in Warminster and Buckingham Green with his wife Joanne for over 32 years. From there Phil worked in sales for Brinker Fuels and finished his working career at Bucks County Courthouse in the court judicial system.

Phil was very active in his community. He was a member of the Doylestown Lions Club for over fifty years. He was a past president and served many years as secretary. He was honored to be a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. Phil was also a member of the Warminster Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Award. Phil and Joanne have been blessed by being members of Doylestown Presbyterian Church for over fifty years.

Phil’s hobbies included fishing, the beach, and the ocean, collecting nautical memorabilia, especially lighthouses, and he enjoyed spending time in his perennial gardens. Phil’s greatest love was the time spent with his family and friends. For many Phil will be remembered by his unique sense of humor.

In addition to his wife Joanne, Phil will be greatly missed by his daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Eric Swanson and Jennifer and Brent Drollette; his grandchildren, Alex, Evan, Annie, and Liam; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Ellen Atkinson and many nieces and nephews as well as his dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to Phil’s Memorial Service on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11:00am, with a visitation hour beginning at 10:00am at the Doylestown Presbyterian Church, 127 East Court Street in Doylestown, PA 18901.  His interment will take place privately.
