James Addison Caldwell, LCDR U.S. Navy, Retired

Retired LCDR James Addison Caldwell passed away peacefully in his Doylestown home with family on August 7, 2021. Jim was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 7, 1937, and was the youngest of four children. He graduated from North Mecklenburg High School where he served as President of his Junior Class, was a member of the Student Council and member of the Junior-Senior Banquet Steering Committee.

Jim attended Lees McRae College and later enlisted in the military where he served as a U.S. Naval Officer and pilot with over 4,500 hours of pilot experience including assignments involving combat, anti-submarine warfare and flight instruction. Jim was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War and later retired in Willow Grove, PA after 22 years of dedicated service to our country. Jim furthered his education and received a Bachelor of Science from Trenton State College.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Smith Caldwell and five children, Beth Caldwell of Plano, TX, James Caldwell, Jr. of Indian Land, SC, Nancy Caldwell of Furlong, PA, Blake Caldwell of Telford, PA and Chris Caldwell of North Wales, PA along with twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service with Military Funeral Honors at 11:15 am on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road Newtown, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in his memory to Tunnel to Towers, an organiztation that honors our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country, 2361 Hylan Boulevard Staten Island, NY 10306.
