Charles H. Peterson

Charles H. Peterson, a longtime resident of New Britain Boro, died with his family by his side on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at his home.  He was 90.

He was the beloved husband of 58 years to the late Eleanor Chookagian Peterson who passed in March of 2020.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret Barrett Peterson.

Charles graduated from Northeast High School with high honors and entered the workforce for a short time before entering the Air Force and served during the Korean War and as part of Operation Teapot in 1954.  Following his service, he began a long career with Philadelphia Gas Works where he was employed as a contract inspector for 33 years, retiring in 1993.

Charles enjoyed trying his luck at the race track and the casinos, enjoyed eating out with family and friends and all things sports, especially following Central Bucks West Football.  He was also a “jack of all trades” of sorts, never shying away from a project around the house or repairing his cars himself.  He had a great sense of humor and was deeply devoted to all those he loved.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his son Charles “Chuck” F. Peterson of New Britain Boro and daughter, Tina Yoder and her husband Michael of Hatfield.  He is also survived by his two grandchildren, Lily and Evan Yoder.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Irene Jordan, Verna White, and Harry Peterson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 9:30 AM until his Funeral Service 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901.  His interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery, New Britain.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to Doylestown Hospital Hospice, 4259 Swamp Rd., Suite 204, Doylestown, PA 18901 or to Honor Flight Pennsylvania, PO Box 003, Broomall, PA 19008.
