John James Coleman

John J. Coleman III of Holland and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Crozer Chester-Medical Center, Delaware County. He was 77 years old.

John was the beloved husband of Marcena Karlavage Coleman for 52 wonderful years.

Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late John J. Coleman, Jr. and Marie Kelly Coleman.

He proudly served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 37 years and retired as a Sergeant in the K9 unit.  In addition, he was active in the Army National Guard for 25 years before retiring.  He was a true servant to the country, but above all John lived his life as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his loving wife, John is survived by his two devoted children; Jennifer Kendrick and husband Patrick, of Doylestown and John Coleman and wife Kristy, of Nashville, TN as well as his five grandchildren; Daniel, Delaney, Faith, Jake, and Kate. He was also blessed with many friends that will carry on his memory.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday evening, July 15, 2021, at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday, July 16, 2021 at St. Bede The Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Rd., from 10:00am until Words of Remembrance 11:50 AM, followed by his Mass at 12:00 PM.  His interment will take place at a later date in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
