Helen Karn (Gravener)

Helen N. Karn of Newtown died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown.  She was 85.

Helen was the beloved wife of 56 years to Stephen L. Karn.                   

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Hughes Gravener. 

Helen graduated from Germantown High School in 1954 and went to work as a bank teller in Philadelphia until she met the love of her life Stephen. Helen was active in the church and enjoyed being a part of the choir and the Bible study.  She was an avid gardener, and an accomplished baker who enjoyed sharing her baked goods with her beloved family.  Helen also enjoyed times spent playing Scrabble and Tripoley with family and friends.  She will be greatly missed, but eternally remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

In addition to her husband Stephen, Helen is survived by her loving and devoted children; Deborah Karn Calvy and her husband Albert of Glen Mills, PA, Jeffrey D. Karn and his wife Kathleen of Warrington, and Lisa Porembski and her husband Brett of Chalfont.  She is also survived by her sister Ruthanne MacDonald, her sister-in-law Ilse Gravener, and her three dear grandchildren: Michele Karn, Jaclyn Parzanese, and Joseph Karn.

Helen’s family will receive friends on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 11:00 am until her Memorial Service 12 noon in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.  Her interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Northampton Presbyterian Church, 539 Buck Rd. Holland, PA 18966.
