Vincent A. Lombardi Service Information

Vincent A. Lombardi, longtime resident of Newtown, PA, died Saturday, June 19, 2021 at his residence.  He was 90 years old.

Vincent was the husband of Sally Ann Cook Lombardi.  That couple shared many happy years of laughter, family, fond memories of love through 53-plus years of marriage.

Astute, smart, and independent, Vincent cared deeply for his family.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, Vincent was the son of Amedeo Lombardi and Clara Mooney Lombardi.  He is the brother of the late James Lombardi.

After earning an undergraduate degree from Villanova University in 1952, he initially worked at Sun Ship in Chester, PA prior to a decade-long ownership of a hardware store in Croydon, PA.  Afterwards, he earned a teaching degree from Temple University which led to a 25-plus year career as an educator.  He taught various levels and subjects in the Trenton, NJ and Plymouth-Whitemarsh school districts before earning a Doctorate in Education from Temple University.  That opened the door to working as a Reading Specialist, Supervisor, and then Assistant Superintendent of the Central Bucks School District in the 1980s.  Upon his retirement from education, he framed his career with a coda as a commercial real estate owner as well as the owner-operator of The Newtown Mailbox on Sycamore Street.

Along the way, he was an integral part of local government. Initially a school board member in Croydon, his involvement in politics grew into a decades-long membership in the Newtown Township Planning Commission. He also served as a member of the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors from 1988 through 1993.  He was also chairman of the Sycamore Street Reconstruction Committee in the early 1990s which successfully oversaw the improvement and redevelopment of Sycamore Street in historic Newtown Township.  Following the completion of reconstruction and dedication of the newly-designed street, he formed the Sycamore Street Community Association, serving as it’s first president, to preserve and promote Newtown Township’s historic town-center. His government involvement included local Republican Party politics and campaigns.

In addition to his beloved wife Sally, Vincent will be missed and remembered by his children, Valerie Shulman, Vincent Alan Lombardi (Linda), Christopher Buss Lombardi (Jan), and Anne M. Iacono (Carlo); his grandchildren Katherine Shulman, Graham Lombardi and Antonio Iacono.  Vincent will also be missed by his son-in-law Jeff Shulman (predeceased), as well as many living nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends may greet Vincent’s family on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. and then again on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the start of his Prayer Service, at 11:00am, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd in Richboro, PA 18954.  Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Newtown.
