Martin W. Sailer, Jr. Service Information

Martin W. Sailer Jr. of Upper Black Eddy died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.  He was 79.

Martin, affectionately known as “Marty” was the loving and devoted husband of Barbara E. Ivins Sailer with whom he had shared 57years of love, marriage and family.

Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Martin W. Sailer Sr. and Genevieve Mowers Sailer.

Marty graduated from Council Rock High School and went on to attend Temple University before enlisting with the United States Navy, serving both actively and then in the Reserves for 29 years and during his active service he earned his Pilot’s Wings and reached the rank of Commander.  During his service he was a Blue & Gold Officer and helped mentor young people who would be entering the Naval Academy.  Following his military service, he began his long career as a commercial pilot for TWA in 1968 where he worked his way up the ranks, retiring as a Captain in 2001.  During his career he flew varied aircrafts both domestically and internationally and often had his family in tow as he flew to destinations worldwide.  If his family wasn’t with him he was sure to bring back a souvenir or favorite delicacy to share when he got home. As a pilot, Marty also delighted in mentoring aspiring pilots and younger pilots just starting out.

In retirement Marty continued flying as a hobby and built his own RV-6 airplane over the course of a few years, perfecting each process and part he used every step of the way.  His RV-6 was a crowning accomplishment and the place he spent the final moments of his life.  He also enjoyed countless other hobbies, including, but not limited to boating, fishing, skiing, scuba diving, riding countless roller coasters with his grandkids, HAM Radio, building and flying model and remote controlled airplanes, hunting, and also serving for a chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Most of all, Marty will be remembered for his devotion to his family and even though his job would often have him on trips away from home, when he was at home, his family knew he was there to stay and spend time with them for each and every second until his next trip.  He was also always present for his kids and grandkid’s sporting events and beamed with pride as he watched them.  Marty’s legacy of love, friendship, and mentorship will keep his memory alive and strong in the hearts of the countless people whose lives he touched.  He will be dearly missed but not soon forgotten.

In addition to his wife, Marty leaves behind his children, Karen Tubiello and her husband, Paul of Ottsville, Beth Jesiolowski and her husband, Neil, of Ottsville, and Todd Sailer of Holland. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Daryl Schumacher (Jeffrey), Dustin Tubiello (Danielle Weidman), Logan Tubiello (Maggie), Jared Jesilowski, Kyle Jesilowski (Meredith Campbell), Trevor Jesilowski, Caden Sailer and Gavin Sailer; his great-granddaughter, Dylan Schumacher, and his brother, Walter Sailer and his wife, Anne.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 11:00 AM until his Funeral Service 1:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954.  His interment with Military Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
