James Paul Catalino

James (Jim) P. Catalino Jr. of Doylestown, family patriarch, died suddenly and peacefully at home on Friday, May 14, 2021.  He was 82.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, businessman, beach enthusiast and friend to many. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Mary Greenwood Catalino.

Jim was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late James P., Sr. and Blanche Zarreke Catalino. Jim was a proud graduate of LaSalle College High School in Wyndmoor, PA where he continued to be an active member of the alumni committee. Through his dedication to hard-work, Jim then put himself through Villanova University where he earned a B.S. in Economics.

Jim was a long-time manager at Sears Roebuck & Co., where he held roles in automotive merchandising and, later, as store manager of the Montgomeryville store. In his final role he held a management role for Safelite Auto Glass company where he retired from in 2000.

Jim’s primary passion and love was for his family. It was abundantly clear that they were his greatest accomplishment, always taking time to share with anyone he met the latest milestones in his children or grandchildren’s lives.  Despite a demanding work schedule, he always found time to participate in and attend numerous family activities and events.  He was often found with a camera and always ensured pictures were taken to cherish each memory. Jim’s other primary passion was his time in Ocean City, NJ.  He enjoyed countless hours basking in the sun with family and friends.  Jim also enjoyed biking, tennis and working out at the health club, especially Cornerstone where he made many friends

Jim and Mary enjoyed countless vacations together during his retirement over the past 21 years.  These included trips skiing, to Europe, Hilton Head and many other destinations.

In addition to his beloved wife Mary, James is survived by his loving and devoted children; James J. Catalino and his wife Mary of Lansdale, PA, Mary Ellen Warrender and her husband Bill of Ocean City, NJ, Theresa McIntosh and her husband Scott of Philadelphia, PA, Michael Catalino and his wife Mary of Doylestown, PA, and Cara Rakow and her husband Daniel of Lansdale, PA.  Also surviving to cherish his memory are his seventeen dear grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

James’ family will receive friends on Friday, May 21st, from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 12:00PM in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street Doylestown, PA 18901.  His interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to La Salle College High School, 8605 West Cheltenham Avenue Wyndmoor, PA 19038.
