Margaret R. "Peg" Skillman (Friel)

Margaret Ruth “Peg” Skillman of Holland, PA died Friday May 14, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was 85.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis R. Skillman, Jr.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret Mackel Friel.

Peg was a proud graduate of West Catholic High School, class of 1953.  After high school she attended modeling school, if not for her stature she would have walked the runways of Paris.  She went on to be an Executive Assistant at Bell Telephone until she chose motherhood as her true calling.  As her children grew, she enjoyed spending her free time at St. Bede’s where she was President of the Women’s Club.  She always kept an open-door policy at her home, whoever needed a place to stay Peg welcomed them with open arms.  This ranged from family, friends, and even exchange students through out the years.  She was an avid reader with a taste of the fine arts.  She loved to attend plays and musicals and enjoyed watching the Eagles on Sundays.  Always known for her wit and love of conversation, Peg will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving children, Francis R. III and Rosemarie Skillman of Warminster, Meg Skillman of Holland, John C. Skillman of Southampton, and Eric M. and Kim Skillman of Pipersville.  She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren; Mary and Keith Wescott, Christy Skillman, Heidi and Jack Barrish, Delaney and Bob Kelly, Mason Skillman, Tyler Skillman, Conor Skillman and Kegan Skillman and her 6 great-grandchildren; Ella, Aiden and Archer Wescott, Mia and Zavier Knight and Maeve Barrish.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Road), Richboro, PA 18954 and on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 10:00 am until her Funeral Mass, 11:30 AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966.  Her interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.  With consideration for family, friends and others in attendance, masks are required when inside the funeral home and church.

Contributions in her memory may be made to Bucks County SPCA, PO Box 277, Lahaska, PA 18931.
