David McInerney

David was an Upper Moreland HS graduate, 2011. Dave held a lifelong love of baseball, which he excelled at, Tee Ball through college. Dave's other sport passion, Ice Hockey, he excelled at, leaving many lasting impressions on his competitors with his fierce style of play.

Dave decided to serve his country following his grandfather’s, father, and brother's before him, committing himself to getting his body in the best shape of his life. Dave shipped to Army Infantry boot camp in September 2016 where he excelled (as usual) and was able to secure his coveted Special Forces contract while in training. Following his initial Infantry and advanced Infantry Training, Dave moved on to Airborne Jump School where in the 2nd week, Dave injured his back and was pulled from training, ending his Army career. Three back surgeries over the following three years finally provided David with the physical relief he sought. Dave was happy in life, having secured a great job that he excelled at, was resuming his love of golf and spending time with a new relationship at the time of his passing. Dave should be remembered as a loyal, humble and incredibly witty young man that anyone who ever had the opportunity to meet him, came away with an honest interaction. David loved, his Dad and Mom, Andy and Theresa,  his brothers, Robert and his wife Kaylee and Lucas and his fiancé Leah Schulz  held a special place with him, he absolutely adored his nieces Louella and Maggie and his nephew Ryder. Dave's immediate family extended with many uncles, aunts and cousins. Dave's love of muscle cars will be missed, he built his dream mustang and felt such pride in ownership, he may have literally washed off a layer of paint with all of his daily care.

Gone far too soon, David is at peace now with his grandfathers and his beloved dogs having preceded him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to either the Disabled American Veterans, 3725 Alexandria Pike Cold Spring, KY 41076 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
