Henry G. Hofmeister

Henry G. “Hank” Hofmeister of Trevose, PA died peacefully on Wednesday. May 5, 2021 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown, PA.  He was 89.

Born in Chester, PA Hank was the son of the late Henry G. and Emma Gawalt Hofmeister.

Hank attended Chester High School where he played for the baseball team that won The Pennsylvania State Champion in 1949.  After graduating high school, Hank answered the call to service and served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  While serving in the military, Hank played baseball for the Air Force’s team. Upon leaving the service, Hank had an invitation to try out for the minor league team, the St. Louis Browns. 

In later years, Hank coached his son’s little league team and also a men’s softball team which he led to numerous championships in the Philadelphia Banking League.  He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Sports teams, a longtime Committeeman in the Somerton area. Hank worked at Girard and Mellon Bank until he retired. Hank then relocated to Cape May Court House in South Jersey and worked at The Country Club Tavern. Hank enjoyed his time spent there playing golf with friends. Hank also cherished this time of his life with his children and grandchildren.  Hank will be greatly missed, but eternally loved and remembered by everyone who had the pleasure to have been in his life and loved by him. 

Hank is survived by his loving and devoted children; Deborah L. McLaughlin and her husband Mark of Newtown and Robert Hofmeister and his wife Maureen of Philadelphia, PA.  He is also survived by his lifelong friend Gladys Jones and his five grandchildren Sean McLaughlin, Meaghan Hofmeister, Colton McLaughlin, Timothy Hofmeister, and Kelly Hofmeister.

Hank’s family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1st from 10:00am until his Memorial Service at 11:30AM in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.  His interment with Military Funeral Honors will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 758517.
