Francis J. Cornely

Rev. Francis J. Cornely, of Meadowbrook, died peacefully on April 19, 2021, in his 100th year. Beloved son of the late Francis and Ann Powers Cornely, brother of the late Nancy Dougherty (David), Dolores Koerwer(John), Rev. Joseph Cornely,S.T., Donald Cornely (Marie) and Lawrence Cornely. He is survived by many nieces and nephews and many great and grand nieces and nephews. Ordained on May 22, 1948, he served in a variety of ministries within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, including for many years as a faculty member and athletic department staff member at Cardinal Dougherty High School, where he taught religion and math, as Pastor of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Essington, and following his retirement, assisting at St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Warrington. He is warmly remembered for his devotion to his vocation, family, and friends, his ready wit, comforting smile, and the ever-present twinkle in his eyes.

Clergy, relatives and friends are invited to attend his Transferal on Friday 9:50am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church 856 Euclid Ave. Warrington, visitation from 10:00am until his Concelebrated Funeral Mass at 11:00am with his Excellence Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez, DD, principal celebrant. Interment Calvary Cem. Conshohocken. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Missionary Servants of the Most Holy Trinity, 9001 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20903.
