James R. Wydro

James R. Wydro, age 79, of New Hope, died Saturday, April 17, 2021, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne.

Born January 28, 1942, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Victoria Urban Wydro, and the husband of Wilma Kanofsky Wydro, to whom he was married 50 years. In addition to his wife, James is survived by daughter Jamie (Wydro) Barr, and her husband Edward. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by brother Edward Wydro.

James served his country with distinction in the United States Air Force in the 1960s, even serving at special request of President John F. Kennedy at his home in Massachusetts. After his military service, he would go on to work as a programmer analyst for many financial firms, including PNC Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank, and 15 years at Dow Jones & Company. In his free time, James enjoyed fishing, walking, bike riding, and playing basketball. His love of basketball even put him toe to toe with Wilt Chamberlain in his younger years.  He also enjoyed teaching his daughter how to do many things as far as fishing, house work and fixing things, which he also taught a lot of her friends as well. He was that father that cared so much about everyone. Most of all, he loved his family, who will miss him dearly.

Friends are invited to join James’ family at a viewing from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954. A celebration of his life will follow at 8:00 PM. The wearing of masks is required, and all current health guidelines will be observed. Interment will be privately held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in James’ name may be made to The Parkinson Council, at 12 W. Willow Grove Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118, or online at https://theparkinsoncouncil.org/donate.
