Bernadette Bender (Keyser)

Bernadette Bender (Keyser) was welcomed into heaven on April 3, 2021 at the age of 76. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry (2006), to whom she was married for 42 years. Bernadette was a loving mother to her son L.J. and his wife Joanne; her pride and joy and special buddy was her grandson Alex.

Bernadette was born on January 5, 1945. One of five children born to Jim and Betty (Maloney) Keyser, Bernadette grew up in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia in a large, loving family with three sisters and one brother. She attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and graduated from St. John the Baptist High School for Girls in 1962. She continued her education at Saint Joseph’s University.

Bernadette held various positions in the education and healthcare fields during her working career. She especially enjoyed her time at Roxborough Memorial Hospital, where she could often be found visiting friends and family who were patients there.

Bernadette’s warm, easy-going and inclusive personality meant making friends came easy. She loved to travel, read, sit on the beach and play games. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.

Besides her son and his family, Bernadette is survived by sisters Delores Selvey (Harold), Betty Ann Lamlin, brother James Keyser, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. In addition to her husband, Bernadette was preceded in death by her sister Joan Keyser.

For the past several months, Bernadette was lovingly cared for by many, especially L.J. and Joanne, her cousin Jane Narke, niece Mary Beth Mariello and friends Marie McMahon and Terry Devine. During this time, Bernadette’s strength, positivity and faith in God was an inspiration to all.

Family and friends are invited to Bernadette’s funeral mass on Saturday, April 17th at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, 605 West Street Road, Warminster, PA. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by mass at 11 a.m. Her burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Children’s Alopecia Project, Inc. at childrensalopeciaproject.org or 906 Penn Avenue (1st floor), Wyomissing, PA 19610 in honor of Alex Bender; or Precious Friends of St. Gianna Childcare Center at 657 York Road, Warminster, PA 18974 in memory of Bernadette.
