Richard P. Hearn

Richard P. Hearn, of Southampton, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Hospital surrounded by his loving family at the young age of 87.

He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Florence R. Hearn (ne. Morano).

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Richard P. and Marie Powers Hearn and brother of the late Lawrence Hearn, Mary Zinn, Gertrude Campbell, Dolores Green and Patricia Jonas.

Richard grew up in Philadelphia and was a very eager and hard-working young man.  Beginning at the age of 13 he started working as a bookkeeper after school for Pfieffer Brothers then at 16, was a truck driver for a typewriter repair service.  Unfortunately, tragedy came upon him and his family when he lost his father one month prior to graduating Roman Catholic High School.  Ever resilient he soon found a job with Kelsey-Hayes Company which became a division of the Heintz Manufacturing Company and remained with them for 38 years, holding the title of Quality Control Manager until his retirement.

Along the way he met the love of his life, Florence Morano and married on September 24th 1955 and together had 10 wonderful children.  A proud and devoted Catholic, they lived in St. Helena’s, St. Albert the Great and Our Lady of Good Counsel Parishes where he was an usher and also a member of the Knights of Columbus. His legacy of love and family will long be remembered and cherished by those who knew him.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his ten children, Richard Hearn Jr (Keith Herbert), Marianne (William) Crawford, Thomas Hearn, Kathleen (Richard) Ringler, Robert Ozdamar Hearn (Deniz Ozdamar Hearn), Joseph (Carolyn) Hearn, Barbara (and the late Mark) Cocco, Eileen (John) Haselbarth, John (Patricia) Hearn, and Rosemary Lynch. He is also survived by a brother James (Mary) Hearn, and his sisters Catherine McErlane and Margaret "Peg" (Joseph) Kelly. He is also survived by his 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren whom he cherished.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 3:30 - 7:30 pm on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the St. Bede The Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road, Holland, PA 18966 and his Funeral Mass on Monday, March 22, 2021 11:00 AM in St. Bede the Venerable Church.
