Genevieve Zimmerman

Genevieve “Jean” Zimmerman, age 93 of Lebanon NJ, died at home on March 6, 2021. Born in Mahanoy City, Pa. to the late William and Mary (nee Lapinsky) Yodesky, Jean grew up in Mahanoy City, and after her high school graduation moved to Philadelphia Pa where she worked at John Wanamaker department store. In 1956 Jean married her beloved husband, the late Joseph W. Zimmerman.

Jean and her husband Joe settled in Glenside Pa to raise their three children. Jean was active in the Glenside Youth Athletic Club as chairperson of the Ways and Means Committee, and as head seamstress making uniforms for the cheerleaders.

Later on Jean worked at Reich’s pharmacy in Roslyn, and at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington Pa. In 1995 Jean and her husband retired to Spring Hill Florida where they enjoyed 20 years together in retirement.

Jean was a devout Catholic who never missed a Sunday mass or saying her two rosaries a day.

Jean enjoyed bowling for many years of which, at the age of 90, she bowled a career high game of a 225. Jean also enjoyed sewing, dancing and a good margarita.

She is survived by her three children; Barbara A. Curran, her husband Christopher of Lebanon, NJ, Stephen Zimmerman, his wife Cheryl of Perkiomenville, PA, Kim Brown (Late Charles) of Chalfont, PA and her sister Lenora "Lee" Green of Florida.  She is also survived by her two grandchildren; Grace and Michael Curran.  She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Zimmerman of 60 years and siblings Jerome Yodesky, Florence Kitsock, Anselma “Sally” Pontecorvo, Helen Momorella and her two step brothers; Richard and Albert Zebel.

Her family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until her Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Jude Church, 321 West Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA 18914.  Masks and social distancing are required. Her interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.
