Edward R. Cubernot Jr. Service Information

Edward R Cubernot Jr. (Butch) of Philadelphia, died at his home on Thursday February 4, 2021. He was 78. Born in Philadelphia. Butch beloved husband of the late Nancy Dolores Cubernot (Zampirri) for over 6 decades. Son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Cubernot (Morgan).

Survived by his 3 children; Andrea Passione (David) Edward Cubernot (Jeanine) and Albert Cubernot (Karen,) was the proud grandfather of Jillian Cordi (Passione) Joe, Mallory, Alexander, Victoria, Pierce, Jared, Jenna and Julia.  Preceded in death by his brother and sister in-law Thomas Ramsher (Helen Dugan) Brother in- law Francis Schlosser (Late sister Linda Cubernot) He is also survived by his sister in law Rose Leipert (Henry), brother in-law Louis Zampirri (late Alvera Marino), Albert Zampirri (Rose) Preceded in death by his beloved brother and sister in laws. Anthony Zampirri, Dominic Zampirri (Josephine Barbadoro), Joseph Zampirri (late Susan Griggs), Florence Glynos (late Gus).

He met the love of his life at the age of 14. Growing up early Butch was a hard-working individual who adored his family. A quiet and private man by nature, his pleasant personality and insight were sought after by family and friends. The simplest pleasures brought him great joy.  Edward worked in Commercial Refrigeration, Manufacturing and Quality Control in a Philadelphia-based company before retiring. He had the uncanny ability to find happiness in daily activities with Nancy by his side. He loved working in his vegetable garden and was especially proud of his tomato plants as well as other vegetables which he proudly gave to his family and loving neighbors. He never traveled far from home except to Penny Pack Park in his backyard where he enjoyed fishing with his neighborhood friends and family. His memory will be an inspiration especially to his grandchildren. He often said that being a grandfather completed his life. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his 7 grandchildren most of all. He often created silly games with something as simple as a piece of aluminum foil rolled into a ball or treasure hunts in the woods behind his home. The grandchildren would bring home their findings, many of which are still cherished to this day. Butch’s biggest accomplishment was his loving marriage and the love he and Nancy shared was evident in how he lived life. He was their “go to” for advice and honesty. He did not differentiate son-in laws or daughter in-laws. They were all his children and he loved them all equally; in turn, he was treated as their father - a true testament to his character and legacy. Butch will be greatly missed and in the hearts forever of his children, family, friends, neighbors and over 30 nieces and nephews.

Due to the pandemic, the service will be private. Butch’s Funeral Mass will be held privately at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 22, 2021 at St. Bede the Venerable Church and will be available via live stream below on this obituary page. Interment will also be Private at St. Dominic’s Cemetery where he will be laid to rest beside his loving Nancy.
