Michael Dopson

Michael Dopson of Holland, Pennsylvania died peacefully with his children by his side on Monday, February 8, 2021.  He was 66 years old.

Born in Philadelphia in 1955, Michael was the son of the late Lewis Dopson, Sr. and Jane Fallon Dopson.  He grew up in the town of Bristol and graduated from Conwell-Egan Catholic High School in 1972.  He enjoyed a long, illustrious career in the materials manufacturing industry, working briefly for U.S. Steel before rising through the ranks over several decades at Rohm & Haas and Arkema until his retirement in 2014.

In 1979, Michael met Patricia Neal and they were married two years later.  Then in 1983, at the age of 28, he became a father when his son Ryan was born. They would soon be joined by his daughter Lauren in 1986.  Michael worked hard to provide a wonderful life for his family, and at the end of each day looked forward to playful moments with his kids.  Over the years, they enjoyed family vacations feeding seagulls down the shore, racing go-karts in Myrtle Beach, or visiting family and Disney characters in Florida. Whether it was those trips, holidays, birthdays, or graduations, you would often find him behind the video camera, wanting to capture those special moments for eternity.  His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he mentioned to anyone who would listen.

Michael also shared a special bond with all animals, particularly the family pets over the years. Whether they were part of his life for over a decade or he was just getting to know them, Chauncey, Nala, Miles, Luna, Sol, and Helix all held a special place in his heart.

Michael’s favorite place to spend time was on the golf course.  When he wasn’t golfing, you might find him at the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Bristol, where he was a 50-year member, or at the Alburtis Rod & Gun Club.  He also enjoyed spending time at home, taking pride in his yard work or relaxing in his basement watching sports, the news, or the History Channel.

Those who knew Michael would describe him as loyal, generous, selfless, humble, genuine, witty, and an all-around great person.  He did not seek out attention, but his sincerity and fun-loving nature caused people to gravitate to him naturally. He was always willing to help, both long-time friends and complete strangers alike, and he contributed annually to a variety of charities and causes that were meaningful to him.

Michael is survived by his proud and grateful children, Ryan Dopson and his wife Kristina of Costa Mesa, California, and Lauren Dopson and her fiancé Brett Sivesind of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  He is also survived by his brother Lewis Dopson, Jr. and his wife Karen, his brother Robert Dopson and his wife Pamela, and his sister Mary Ann Sands, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis, Sr. and Jane Dopson, his brother Steven Dopson, and his brother-in-law Charles Sands.  Michael will be greatly missed, but eternally loved as a caring and devoted father, brother, uncle, and friend.

Services and interment for Michael will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made directly to the American Stroke Association and the Bucks County SPCA, or via his memorial website: https://everloved.com/life-of/michael-dopson/donate/
