Helen Y. Mathews of Newtown died peacefully at Pickering Manor Home on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. She was 91.
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Stanley D. Mathews.
Born in Newtown she was the daughter of the late Taylor and Irma Reed Yates and the sister to the late Sidney T. Yates Esq.
Helen was employed by the First National Bank of Newtown for over fifty years. She took pride in maintaining her home constructed by her husband in 1960 and enjoyed time spent at the family beach house on Long Beach Island. She loved playing Pinochle and Bingo with her husband and friends as well as time spent with her ever growing family. Helen will be greatly missed, but eternally loved by everyone who had the pleasure to have been loved by her.
Helen is survived by her two sons; S. Donald Mathews and his wife Debbie of Doylestown and Gary L. Mathews and his wife Barbara of Newtown. She is also survived by her brother Taylor Yates (Elmira), brothers in law Jac Mathews (Joan) and Robert Mathews, her five grandchildren: Amie Kiryluk, Kara Johnson (Dan), Laura Albrecht (Carl) , Kathryn Goodrich (Peter), and BJ Kiryluk (April), their mother Sharon Kiryluk (William), her eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Helen’s family will be planning a celebration of her life at a later date. Her interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be private.
