Rose Marie Higby Ross

Rose Marie Higby Ross of Holland, PA died peacefully at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, December 26, 2020.  She was 67.

Born in Meadville, PA Rose Marie was the beloved wife of Alan J Ross and the daughter of the late Archie E and Emma M Stauffer Higby.  Rose graduated high school as salutatorian of her class. Earning a full scholarship to Penn State she went on to earn a B.A. with highest distinction majoring in Spanish.  Having grown up in a household with a hearing disabled mother, Rose found a perfect match with her life career in disability services at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.  Progressing through many years of rehabilitation counseling and supervision, Rose eventually became the Philadelphia Regional Office Manager managing a large staff and budget.  She was an active member of the Pennsylvania Rehabilitation Association, a Certified Rehab Counselor, and was awarded the Charles L Eby award for Administration in 2009 from the PA Rehab Association.

Most of all, Rose was a loyal “good friend” to so many with a special talent for no drama listening and advice.  She was a prized travel partner, beach buddy, gardening partner, lunch/dinner companion, and Grandmom, and she will be sorely missed by so many friends and family. She cherished her annual whole family vacations in Avalon. NJ. Rose also loved to read and journal in her free alone time.

In addition to her husband Alan, Rose Marie is survived by her step-children: Jen Hayes and her husband Jake of Williamstown, NJ and Robert Ross and his wife Jill of Lumberton, NJ.  She is also survived by her sister June Tatters, her brother Archie Higby Jr., her grandchildren Marisa and Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to watch the live stream of her Funeral Service at 10:00AM on Saturday, January 2, 2021.  Her Entombment will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA.

In Lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Habitat for Humanity Clearfield, PO Box 463, Dubois, PA 15801-0463.
