William H. Sifer

William H. Sifer of Langhorne died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday December 11, 2020, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Langhorne, PA. He was 88.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rita Marie Foy Sifer for 57 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William L. and Frances Nice Sifer, devoted grandfather of the late Colin, brother of the late June Marion, Mary Thomas (late Frank), and Hazel Williams (late Joseph).

Bill attended Northeast Public High School, was a Sgt. in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably discharged.

Bill’s career spanned many years beginning by working at the Stetson Hat Factory.  After apprenticing as a butcher for both Carl Buerklin and Al Kircher he became a small businessman himself in 1968 with Sifer’s Prime Meats.  He took great pride in his store, located at Belgrade and Montgomery in the Fishtown section of the city.  And even more pride in the relationship he shared with his customers.  Longtime residents still remember him fondly.  Bill finished his career spending 25 years, in various roles at Herr’s Foods alongside two of his sons.

He was a faithful communicant of Assumption BVM Church, Feasterville, for 50 years. Family was most important to Bill; his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much love, joy, pride and happiness. Bill and his wife loved traveling and entertaining. He enjoyed music of all kinds starting with jazz. He also enjoyed reading, movies, landscaping, Philadelphia sports teams, dining out, and above all else time together with family and friends. Bill was a great storyteller and regaled family and friends with many a tale over the years.

Bill is survived by his devoted children; William J. Sifer and his wife Marianne, Kathleen M. Sifer, Daniel P. Sifer and his wife Doris, Joseph F. Sifer and Patrick W. Sifer and his wife Renee. Bill is also survived by his sister Joan McCalister (late Donald), loving grandfather of; Nicholas, Daniel, Ashley and Alyssa and 3 great grandchildren; Shailen, Kieren and Rohen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass, Thursday 11:00am at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Rd. Feasterville.  Masks and Social Distancing Mandatory.  Interment will be private.
