Dorothy C. Eberhard

Dorothy C. Eberhard of Pennswood Village, Newtown, PA passed away peacefully on October 29, 2020. She was 97 years old.

Dorothy was born in the Bronx, New York, where she lives until 1976 before moving to Rossmoor, an adult retirement community in Jamesburg, NJ. In 1996, she moved to Pennswood Village, a life care community in Newtown, Bucks County, PA

Although trained as a medical assistant and working in the medical field for several years, for 45 years Dorothy served on the staff of the National Lutheran Council / Lutheran World Ministries, a church agency in New York City. Her responsibilities involved both domestic and overseas travel. Her retirement came in 1988.

In Rossmoor, she served as a section director and as president, as well as on the governing board of the Rossmoor community. She was also active in the Rossmoor Solos, the Rossmoor Croquet Club, and the Rossmoor Women’s Guild.

At Pennswood Village, Dorothy was involved in a number of community and service activities including the Display Cabinet, Trips and Worship Committees, as well as volunteering in the Gift Shop, the Mail Room and for Meals on Wheels. She maintained church affiliation with the Pennswood Interdenominational Services.

Dorothy is survived by her two nieces; Elizabeth King (Gary) and Phyllis Krpata (Dan), a nephew Richard Oelkers (Teresa), 8 grandnieces and nephews, and 10 great-grandnieces and nephews, all of whom live out of state. She was predeceased by a nephew, Robert, who’s widow, Stephanie, remains very close.

Dorothy's interment is being held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s name may be given to the Pennswood Village Fellowship Fund, or to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: World Hunger Fund.
