Thomas H. Ludwig

Thomas H. Ludwig, of Lansdale, PA died on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Abington Jefferson Health Lansdale Hospital. He was 86.

He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Marie Brennan Ludwig.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Zimmerman Ludwig and father of the late Stephen Ludwig.

Thomas grew up in Philadelphia and was a life-long Philadelphia Eagles fan.  He graduated from Northeast High School and Drexel University and although he grew up in the city, he loved the outdoors and all the beauty of nature. He enjoyed his many dogs, saltwater fishing and was an avid hunter, spending many a deer season with his uncles and cousin, Chuckie in Potter County trying to get a trophy buck.

He was a proud US Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict and made many friends while in the service.  Making friends came easy to Tom.  He was easy to talk to and was liked by everyone.  He was a good person and highly thought of by many.  Such that he was a “Best Man” to 10 different grooms throughout his life and respected and appreciated by his coworkers at Leeds and Northrup in North Wales where he worked for over 20 years in the Human Resource department prior to retiring in the mid 1990’s.

Tom’s kindness, friendly disposition and good nature made him many friends throughout life.  When he was younger he had a standing invitation to play cards every Friday night.  When he moved to Souderton, there was rarely a day that Tom missed taking a walk.  He enjoyed being out in the fresh air and the friends that greeted him along his daily, 2-mile stroll around town.

During his retirement Tom continued his helping way by volunteering his time teaching those in need.  He happily tutored both children and adults.  He especially enjoyed working with those who were working to get their High School GED.  Upon their successful completion, Tom celebrated their achievement by having a graduation ceremony for them.

Tom will be remembered by many as a good and kind man who cared for others by giving of himself.

He is survived by his son Michael Ludwig and his wife Eileen of Chalfont and many, many friends.

His services and interment will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Guardians of the National Cemetery, PO Box 233, Newtown, PA 18940.
