Regina B. Kohl (Begans)
Regina B. Kohl of Newtown, PA and formerly of Chatham, NJ departed this life peacefully and with her family at her side on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Chandler Hall Hospice in Newtown at the age of 65.
Regina was the loving and devoted wife of Mark Kohl.
Born and raised in Jersey City, NJ she was the daughter of the late Francis and Eleanor Rooney Begans.
To know Regina is to have known unconditional love. Loving Regina was her husband’s greatest joy. She met her husband while attending college and they were married at Saint Aedan’s RC Church in Jersey City in 1976. Their life’s journey together was filled with love, respect and devotion to one another; enriched by the birth of their son, the welcoming of their daughter-in-law, and the birth of their granddaughter.
She was a graduate of the Academy of Saint Aloysius, Jersey City State College and Walden University. She was an elementary school teacher who taught in Saint Anne School, Holy Family School, Nicolaus Copernicus School and the Watsessing School where she was a mathematics specialist. She was honored by her colleagues by being nominated New Jersey Teacher of the Year. She was indispensable to her school as head teacher. Regina was a seamstress by hobby who designed and made her wedding gown as well as many Halloween costumes for her son, grandnieces, and grandnephews, some of which have been lovingly handed down to her granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, Regina is survived by her son, Jeffrey Kohl and his wife, Jacqueline; her granddaughter, Sadie; her brother, James Begans; her sister-in law Dianne Babics and her husband William; her brother-in law Raymond Kohl and his wife Donna; her nieces Catherine Chase and her husband David, Audrey Lane and her husband Brett, and Samantha Archer and her husband John; her grand-nieces Eva, Emma and Carolyne;her grand-nephews Harp, John, Alexander and Brody; and her cousins Anthony Rooney, Peter Begans, and Bob Davis. She is predeceased by her cousins, Christopher Rooney, Walter Davis, and Betty Davis; and nephew, Justin Kohl.
Services and interment will be held privately and a celebration of her life will be planned for a later time.
