Joseph John Rycek

Joseph John Rycek of Doylestown died Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Pine Run Health Center.  He was 91 years old.  His beloved wife, Carol, preceded him in death on August 22, 2015.

Joseph was born in Philadelphia on April, 16, 1929, the son of Peter and Mary Rycek.  In May 1950 Joseph enlisted in the US Navy and became a Petty Officer Third Class at which time Joseph served on the USS Ouachita County LST 1071.  During his service he was awarded a Good Conduct Metal and honorably discharged on April 1, 1954. Joseph went on to establish a successful career in the insurance industry.

Joseph and his wife Carol enjoyed spending time at the shore and did extensive travel throughout the world. 

He is survived by five sons, seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by two stepsons, Evan and Darryl Pellegrino and one stepdaughter, Dana Pellegrino, four grandchildren, as well as two brother in laws and their families.

On Monday, August 31, 2020 a private memorial for the family will be held at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home in New Britain, PA. His interment will follow in the Beulah Cemetery, New Britain.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be made to The Cancer Institute of Doylestown Hospital, The Pavilion, Suite 307, 599 West State Street, Doylestown, PA 18901.
