Rita R. Foley (Grosso)
Rita R. Foley of New Britain died peacefully and surrounded by her family on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at her home. She was 88.
Rita was the loving wife of the late William H. Foley.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Orozio and Angelina Tripoli Grosso.
Rita led a long career in Electrical and Medical manufacturing where she enjoyed her hands-on work until fully retiring at the age of 83. In her spare time, she showed off her artistic skills in drawing and ceramics and created a complete ceramic manger scene for Christmas.
Rita was a consummate host and was always more than willing to entertain family, friends, and neighbors with fellowship and an expertly crafted meal in her home, especially at the holidays. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Jude Parish in Chalfont where she briefly served as the cook for the rectory. She enjoyed travelling, especially trips to Greece and Italy to see where her family was originally from and, she was known to test her luck on the lottery, always swearing that next ticket would be the “big one”.
Finally, yet most importantly, Rita was devoted to her family and especially treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored endlessly. She will be dearly missed.
Rita is survived by her children, Diane Gibson (Jon) of Bedminster, NJ, Joe Foley (Angie) of Perkasie, PA, Billy Foley (Mary) of New Britain, PA, Donna Foley of San Clemente, CA, David Foley (Kelly) of New York, Michael Foley (Kelly Koper) of Philadelphia, PA, Carol Graf (Jim) of New Britain, PA, Patrick Foley (Jackie) of Warrington, PA. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by four siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 11:00 AM until her Funeral Mass 12:00 PM at St. Jude Church, 321 W. Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA 18914. Her interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Rita’s memory to St. Jude Parish Church at the above address.
