Joseph L. Gura Sr.

Joseph L. Gura Sr. of Southampton, PA died Saturday, July 18, 2020 at his residence. He was 79.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Pauline Fachet Gura and was the father of the late James Gura.

Joseph was the dearest companion of Janet Browne.  Joseph is also survived by his beloved children; Joseph Gura Jr. of Collingswood, NJ and Marie Gura Ehling and her husband Jeff of Chalfont PA. He is also survived by his brother John Gura and his wife Dottie of Mantua, NJ and his 4 cherished grandchildren Anthony, Matthew, Alexander and Nicholas as well and many nieces and nephews.

Joseph was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to Southampton. He was a graduate of St. John Neumann High School and a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps Reserve. Joseph was a Fork Lift Operator for Frankford Grocery in Philadelphia and Oaks, PA for many years and a longtime member of the Warehouse Employees Local 169 in Phoenixville, PA. In his leisure time, Joseph enjoyed spending his time at home and walking his dog “Sammie”. He will be truly missed by his family and by all who came to know and love him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass 11:00am  on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave., Southampton, PA 18966. Joseph’s interment will be private at a future date in time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
