Cleonice "Claire" Salvi (Annecchini)

Cleonice "Claire" Salvi of Newtown, PA died Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. She was 74.

She was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Salvi.

Born in Lama Dei Peligni of Abruzzo, Italy, Claire was the daughter of the late Angelo and Luisa Salvi Annecchini.  The family immigrated to the United States in 1956.

Claire was a former resident of Philadelphia and Princeton Junction, NJ before moving to Newtown in 1999.  She was a devoted mother and tireless caretaker to Sam during his prolonged illness.  Claire obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Nursing from the College of New Jersey.  She then pursued a career as a psychiatric nurse at Princeton House from 1986 to 1998.  For the past 17 years, she worked at Trenton Psychiatric Hospital as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.  She was an active and dedicated volunteer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness and The Well Spouse Foundation. In her leisure time she enjoyed yoga, cooking, gardening, music and most especially spending time with her beloved family. Cleonice was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Newtown, PA.

Cleonice is survived by her loving companion Joseph Sloss; her children, Anthony Salvi and wife Erica of Philadelphia, PA, Alexander Salvi and wife Erin of Medford, NJ, and Nichole Salvi Ferreira of Trumbull, CT; her sister, Angelina Arcamone and husband Giovanni of Newtown Square. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Vincent, Isabella, Lucia, Nicholas, Samuel Jackson and Gianna and beloved nieces Adriana and Julia.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Saturday, June 27, 2020 from 10:00am until her Funeral Mass at 11:30am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940.  Facial coverings are required.  Claire’s internment will follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA.

Out of respect for the health and safety of our family and friends, the family will not be gathering aster the interment.  Instead they will look forward to seeing everyone at a celebration of Claire's life later this year.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, 72 Escher Street, Trenton, NJ 08609.
