Doris M. Moyer (Peterson)

Doris M. Moyer of Pine Run Lakeview in Doylestown, PA died peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  She was 97.

Doris was the beloved wife of the late Donald B. Moyer and the mother of the late Cheryl Moyer Schoening.

Born in Milton PA, she was the daughter of the late Francis Albert and Grace Satteson Peterson.

Doris met the love of her life Donald B. Moyer a young B26 Bomber Pilot in 1938 at the ice cream parlor in Lewisburg.  While Don flew missions in the European-African Campaigns, Doris anxiously awaited his return.  Doris Graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1941.  Shortly after Don’s return from War Doris married him in September of 1944 and they shared a love that would span over half a century. 

Doris was the secretary of the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill from 1957 until 1968.  She was an avid gardener, loved to sew, knit and crochet.  Doris and Don did extensive traveling in the US and loved visiting National Parks and state capitals.   They spent the month of February in Deerfield Beach FL each year.   They lived in Maryland and moved to Wyndmoor PA and lived there from 1955 until they moved to Pine Run community in 2005.  Doris was active at the community and she sung in the chorus, was a member of the trip committee and also the knitting club.  She moved to Lakeview Assisted Living in October 2019.

Doris is survived by her loving and devoted daughter: Charlene Moyer Bance and her husband Keith of North Wales and her grandchildren: Jeffrey C Bance and his wife Erika of NYC and Jessica Bance-Vidich and her husband David Vidich of Storrs, CT.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren:  Radha Bance-Vidich, Simone Bance-Vidich, Hattie Bance-Vidich and 9 nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be private at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 211 South Main Street, North Wales, PA  19454.
