Joseph P. Joyce

JOSEPH PATRICK JOYCE

Joseph Patrick Joyce of Village of Buckingham Springs, New Hope was called home by his Lord Jesus on Saturday March 28, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was 82.

Born in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Thomas Joyce and Catherine Mumford Joyce. He grew up in West Oak Lane, and was a proud graduate of Northeast Catholic High School Class of 1955, and attended Delaware Valley University. Joe raised his family in Tacony and spent his entire life living in the Greater Philadelphia Area.

An avid hunter and tennis player you could often find Joe walking outdoors enjoying nature. He loved dogs and trained several beagles, not only as fierce hunting companions but also beloved family pets. Although he attended the 1960 Eagles Championship, the first and last games played at Veterans Stadium and numerous other sporting milestones, he will be most remembered for his constant presence at his children's and grandchildren's games, plays, recitals, concerts, award ceremonies, graduations and events.  He was especially dedicated and loving to his grandchildren with special needs. Always quick with a smile and a joke, Joe enjoyed a stiff drink, a bowl of ice cream and most of all, the one true love of his life, his wife Dot. Joe Joyce was the embodiment of how to live a good, humble life and enjoy every moment. In 82 years of life and the slow moments of his death, Joe Joyce displayed quiet strength and great dignity. He will be missed by his family on a level beyond the description of words.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Dorothy Joyce (Ricks). He is predeceased by his brothers Thomas and Gerald and survived by his sister Mary Catherine Miller (Joyce). He is survived by his four children; Joseph Joyce and his wife Elise of Hershey, Patricia McGrath and her husband Sean of Churchville, Timothy Joyce and his wife Christina of Mohnton and Annette Joyce of New Hope. Joe was filled with love and pride for his ten grandchildren; Tara Walton and her husband Kevin, Matthew and David Joyce, Conor, Sarah and Aidan McGrath, Jacob and Thomas Joyce, Brenna and Kelly Lee. He is also survived by a beautiful Great Granddaughter, Lily Walton and her expected younger sibling this Spring.

Services and interment will be privately held by the family. A Mass of Remembrance and celebration of Joe's life will be scheduled for a day and time at a later date.
