Anne Marie Meckling (McDonough)

Anne Marie (McDonough) Meckling of Doylestown, died peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2020 in Chalfont, PA. She was 75 years old.

Born in 1944 in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Patrick J. and Marie (Murphy) McDonough and sister of the late Thomas J. McDonough.  She graduated from Bishop McDevitt Catholic High School in Wyncote, PA in 1962 as well as attended college level courses at Temple University.  She lived with her parents in Willow Grove, PA until she married her husband, Robert F. Meckling in September of 1971.  Anne Marie and Robert were married for nearly 40 years at the time of his death.

Anne Marie was a long time, dedicated employee of Peregrine Surgical in Doylestown, PA, where she always enjoyed and appreciated the family environment and support which she received from ownership and fellow employees.  She loved children and had also served for many years as a reading and math aid for students of Doyle Elementary School as well as working in the pre-school at the Doylestown United Methodist Church.

Anne Marie enjoyed many recreational activities.  She would often play mahjong, dominos, cards or go to the movies with friends. She loved going fishing and going for walks with her “grand-dog”, Minnie, at Peace Valley Park.  She enjoyed traveling with her friends, sisters and children.  Anne Marie was certainly blessed with the Irish “gift of gab” as anyone that knew her could attest.  She would also tell you she was a wonderful singer and offer to serenade anyone at the drop of hat.  She had the ability to brighten up a room with her smile, cheer and positive outlook.  Her laughter, kindness and caring nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Anne Marie will be greatly missed and remembered by her children, Robin A. Meckling and Robert P. Meckling; and her siblings Patrick J. McDonough Jr., Margaret Lordan, Phyllis O’Donnell and Patricia Davis and by her best friend, Sis, and husband Jerry Kinney.   She is also survived by numerous special extended family members.

Anne Marie’s memorial tribute will be held at a later date.

Contributions in Anne Marie’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust Street in Philadelphia, PA 19103.
