John "Danny" Daniel Brett

John Daniel Brett of Furlong died peacefully at Paoli Hospital on Monday, January 6, 2020.  He was 72.

Danny was the beloved husband of 48 years to Kathleen O’Hara Brett.

Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late James Joseph and Mary Ann Gillespie Brett and the brother of the late James and Francis Brett.

Danny’s life was truly a life made by those with which he surrounded himself with. Everyone in his life were considered family and were a part of the “nest”. Always the largest presence in any room, he made sure those around him felt appreciated and special.

An Accountant by trade, Danny held a private practice in the borough of Doylestown and was a trusted advisor. He relished in the success and achievements of his clients, many of which became good friends.

In his leisure time Danny was a skilled golfer who thrived on competition, but also enjoyed a casual round with friends. His ability to “chirp” at those he was playing with was legendary and he lived the motto “if you’re not one up, you’re one down.”

Danny love to travel, both in the United States and abroad, and could often be found with a travel book plotting his eventual visits to the best hotels in the world. On his many adventures with family and friends and he was just as happy with a Glenlivet 18 on a South Jersey beach as he was with a glass of fine wine on a European cruise.

In his later years his life was impacted by cancer. Ever the optimist, he fought hard not to let it impact his life and how he interacted with friends and family, especially his grandchildren who he loved and cherished. His strength and perseverance during difficult times were inspirations to all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Kathleen, Danny is survived by his two loving and devoted children: Jennifer Zimmer and her husband Josh of Downingtown, PA and Brendan Brett and his wife Jen of West Norriton, PA.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Piper and Danny Zimmer and Luna and Lydia Brett, his sister Mary Ann Wall, brothers: Charles Brett (Agnes), Gerard Brett (Jacinta), Brenden Brett (Kathleen), his sisters-in-law Ann and Nancy Brett, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Danny’s family will receive friends on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 9:30 am until his Memorial Mass 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State St. Doylestown, PA 18901.  His interment will be private.
