John Greener
John Greener of Warminster had his last “terribly hectic” day on January 2, 2020. John passed away surrounded by his loving family at Jefferson Health Hospice at Warminster. He was 88.
He was the beloved husband of 60 years of Genevieve Smith Greener. Born in Philadelphia he was a son of the late James and Agnes Greener.
John’s greatest joy was his family. He was lovingly known as Bootsie to his grandchildren and many friends and family. He was an avid military aviation enthusiast. He never drove anywhere without driving past the Willow Grove Naval Station. He loved going to air shows and listening to the pilots on the scanner. John also loved Astronomy. He would sit for hours reading astronomy magazines and star charts. He would go out late at night to view and photograph stars and the moon. John was a huge Tiger Woods fan. Any day that Woods won was a good day for John.
John also was known as Pope Bootsie. He had an uncanny resemblance to Pope Benedict. He loved to dress up and show up at parties as the Pope. He was quite the character. John also loved to spend hours at Peace Valley Park photographing nature. John was one of a kind and we will cherish the many memories of him.
In addition to his loving wife he is also survived by his three daughters Deborah Rose and her husband Christopher of Warrington, Mary Agnes Steigerwalt and her husband Frank of Southampton and Jennifer Miller and her husband Eric of New Britain. He is also survived by his six grandchildren Sarah Jane, Thomas, Victoria, Kristyn, Michael and Brendan.
He is predeceased by his Greener siblings Raymond, James, Dorothy, Virginia and Agnes. He also was predeceased by his Corcoran siblings Gerald, James, Timothy, Catherine and Daniel.
His family will receive family and friends from 9:30 a.m. until his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday January 8, 2020 in the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Rd) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Harold F, Pitcairn Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum, P.O. Box 747 Horsham, PA 19044-0747.
