Joan Rhodes (Glanding)

Joan Glanding Rhodes of Newtown, died peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2019 in her home at Pennswood Village. She was 84.

Born in Norristown, Joan was the beloved daughter of the late Frederick H. and Lillian Latshaw Glanding and sister of the late Nancy Scattergood.

Joan was a graduate of Norristown High School and received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Joan was a primary school teacher for several years before raising her 3 children as a stay-at-home mom. She later began a career as an inter-library loan coordinator at the Norristown Public Library followed by the Ursinus College Library.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling around the world, spending time in Ocean City, NJ, and was a loyal Eagles and Phillies fan. She was an active member at Church on the Mall in Plymouth Meeting for over 30 years. What brought Joan the most joy was spending time with family and friends.

Joan is survived by her children and their spouses; Laurie R. Cautilli and her husband George, Richard F. Rhodes and his wife Karen F., and Rand R. Rhodes and his wife Kim. Joan is also survived by 5 loving grandchildren; Kristen, Megan, Kara, Eric and Allison as well as her brother-in-law Hudson B. Scattergood.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 10:00am at Pennswood Village 1382 Newtown-Langhorne Rd. Newtown. Her interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Church on the Mall 500 West Germantown Pike Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
