Mary E. Costello (DeMarco)
Mary E. Costello, of Perkasie, PA died on Monday, October 14, 2019, at Doylestown Hospital. She was 83.
She was the beloved wife of 65 years to John D. Costello.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jenny Shaefer DeMarco.
Mary grew up in Philadelphia and was a 1953 graduate of John Bartram High School.
Mary lived in Philadelphia until 1963 when she and John moved to Hartsville, Bucks County, PA. She worked for the Centennial School District first at Log College Jr. High School in the cafeteria and later as a van driver for Special Needs Students until her retirement in 1990. She and John moved to Mehoopany, Wyoming County, PA where they lived in a beautiful home on the Susquehanna River.
Mary loved flowers, gardening, making all John’s favorite foods, baking and decorating special cakes for her grandchildren, family and friends through the years. Everyone looked forward to her famous homemade pizzellle cookies which she made every Christmas.
After Mary and John lost their home to a flood in 2011, they moved back to Bucks County to be closer to family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mary is also survived by her three children, Mary Ann Beltz and her husband Paul of Perkasie, John D. Costello Jr. and his wife Sharon of Pipersville, Karen Roller and her husband Chuck of Warrington, her sister Catherine Umstetter of Sewell, NJ, and brother Joseph DeMarco of Swell, NJ. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Erik Garton and his wife Danielle, Keri Garton-Kent and her husband Jon, Amy Spittler and her husband Todd, Chuck Roller III and his wife Morgan, Jenny Roller and her seven great-grandchildren; Conner, Jadyn, Riley, Tanner, Lily, Jake and Chase.
Her services and interment will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
