Nicholas Quirke

Nicholas Quirke passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the age of 39.  Nick is a Bucks County native and has lived in Point Pleasant, PA for the past 17 years.

Born in Smithtown, NY, he was the beloved son of Steven J. Quirke and Susan (Azzarello) Quirke.  In addition to his parents, Nick's memory will live on through his sister Alessandra (Quirke) Shultz and her husband, Ryan; his adoring nieces and nephews, Adalia, Isabella, Dante, and Rocco; his maternal grandmother, Connie Azzarello and his paternal grandmother, Joan Quirke.  He also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Nick grew up in Chalfont, PA, graduated from Central Bucks West High School, and spent most of his life in Bucks County.  He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Physics and later earned his Air Frame and Power Plant Certificate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.  He had a lifelong interest in cars and mechanics.

Nick was proud of his career as a helicopter mechanic and was also passionate about music, having been a talented saxophone and trumpet player.  Marching band was an experience that followed him for life.  Hardly a day went by that Nick didn't have his trumpet within reach, ready to fill the air around him with the sounds of his passion for music and for life.

Those who were fortunate enough to wander through his life were lucky enough to be able to share some of that.  Although Nick battled the demons of addiction for quite some time, his love for family and commitment to those around him never faltered.  He will be remembered for who he was, not the demons that followed him.

Nick’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 4050 Durham Rd., Ottsville, PA 18914.  His interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization (HERO) by visiting http://www.theherofoundation.org/donate.php.  His family has also decided to establish a music fund in order to serve under-privileged children in our area.  Due to Nick's untimely passing, this is a work in progress.  If you are interested in assisting with the process please contact the family directly.
