Eugene C. Gallagher

Eugene C. Gallagher, of Little Egg Harbor, NJ died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Mystic Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 81.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late William and Anna McCaffery Gallagher and brother of the late William and John Gallagher.

Gene was a former resident of Philadelphia before moving to Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey. He was a former Communicant of St. Bartholomew Church in Philadelphia and St. Teresa Church in Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Gene had worked for many years with Midvale Heppenstalle in Philadelphia in their transportation department. Shortly thereafter, he went to work with St. Katherine of Siena Church in Philadelphia with their maintenance department. In his leisure time, he enjoyed visiting the racetrack where he would take a chance on the horses. Gene will be truly missed by his family and by all who came to know him.

Gene is survived by his loving and devoted sisters; Mary L. Maier and her husband Arthur of Washington Crossing, PA and Anne Sciolla and her husband Frank of Ivyland, PA.  He is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Church of St. Andrew, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940 from 10:00AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00AM.  Gene’s interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Francis Inn, 2441 Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125.
